This week we learned about natural selection, adaptation, and evolution. We did a few different activities that demonstrated these new things that we learned. Something that I specifically thought was interesting that I learned is that populations evolve and not just the individual animal. In our lab, our hypothesis was that spoons would be the best predator and we were right because spoons were the largest populated at the end. I am able to relate what I learned this week to what I already knew because I have learned about evolution in previous classes that I have taken. I don't remember a lot of the stuff I learned before but the big and main ideas I remembered so it was familiar to me when we talked about it this week. I can apply what I learned to my teaching in the future through the simulations that we did. I have always enjoyed doing hands-on or visual activities when learning new things because it is very fun and much more memorable when doing it. I want to teach my student...

What did you learn this week? This week we learned about a lot of new things. We talked about genes and gene mutations in lab, and then in lecture we talked about evolution and natural selection. It was interesting to see the connections that mutations have for evolution and natural selection. In lab, we went over our baby labs, and I thought it was really fun to see what everyone else's babies looked like. Are you able to relate what you've learned to what you already know? Yes, I am able to relate what I have learned this week to what I already knew. I have previously learned about genetics in other science classes that I have taken. I have also learned about evolution before. Many of the things that we talked about were familiar with me, but I have not really talked about any of these ideas for some time. Which parts did you find clear and which were confusing? I found most of the stuff that we learned this week to be pretty clear because I have learned about this ...

What did you learn this week? This week we learned about DNA. We learned what it is, where it is within cells, and we also learned about genes and traits. We got to see how different traits and genes work with the baby lab that we did because we got to see how the different dominant and recessive traits work. It was fun to see during that activity. Are you able to relative what you've learned to what you already knew? Yes I am able to relate what we have learned this week to what I already knew. I have previously learned about DNA in past science classes that I have taken. A lot of the material that we covered is familiar with me. It was a good refresher though because I haven't talked about DNA and genes in a long time. How can you apply what you've learned to your future teaching? I can apply what I have learned to my future teaching through the activities that we did in the lab. I thought the DNA strands were fun and a good visual and I think that can be used for y...
